Institute of Health and Sports Science

The Institute of Health and Sports Science was established in order to pursue the following objectives: 1) to preserve the physical and mental health of the university's students and staff, 2) to promote health and physical fitness education, and 3) to conduct research in health and sports science. These achievements contribute to the development of health and physical fitness not only of our students and staff but also of the local community.

The Institute consists of the Department of Health and the Department of Physical Education. Hence, the Institute is characterized by the specialties of medical science, sports science, physical education and psychology that work cooperatively towards the accomplishment of their own goals and research.

The results of research are published in The Annual Reports of the Institute of Health and Sports Science and The Kurume Journal of Health and Sports Science. The activities of the Institute are also open to the public through a series of extension lectures.
