Institute of Health and Sports Science

The Institute of Health and Sports Science was established at 2000 in order to pursue the following objectives: 1) to preserve the physical and mental health of the university's students and staff, 2) to promote health and physical fitness education, and 3) to conduct research in health and sports science.

These achievements have contributed to the development of health and physical fitness not only of our students and staff but also of the local community.

Over time, Objective 1 and Objective 2 were handed over to the Health Service Center and the Department of Sports Medicine and Science, respectively. From 2017, The Institute is specializing it in Objective 3 and is aiming to be a hub facility for individuals and various groups in the local community who have same interest as us.

The results of research are published in The Kurume Journal of Health and Sports Science. The activities of the Institute are published in The Annual Reports of the Institute and are also open to the public through a web site:
